 Setting Sail: Highlights from the Rosenberg Library's Maritime Collection

Setting Sail provides snapshots of important places, people, and events in Galveston's maritime history.

Some highlights will include:

  • Six ship models from various time periods
  • USS Galveston ship’s wheel and silver presentation set
  • James Lykes ship's bell
  • Iron barge cleat from the 1900 Storm
  • Naval officer's uniform
  • Artifacts from the Elissa, Texas Navy, Battle of Galveston, and more
  • Three maritime flags and 33 maritime paintings

The exhibit is located on the 4th floor in Trustees Hall. It can be viewed during regular library hours, 9:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Monday through Saturday. No appointment needed. For more information, please contact the Museum Curator at 409.763.8854 Ext. 125 or at museum@rosenberg-library.org.
